Question Screen Resolution

Hi, I'm just a learner - designing a web site that looks fine on my 640x480 screen, but when I check it out on a 800x600, the layout is all out of wack. How can I fix this? My site is at:

Love some help on this one - I want the site to be easily accessible for the lower end but not all over the place for the higher end, ya know?

Well, what I would suggest for the bottom part is to center the table with info (From: "Welcome to Wilga Park" until the "Bookmark us" part.) That would probably enhance the bottom.

At the top, for design reasons, I would get rid off the bevel on the background and use a flat image instead. If it repeats itself, people won't notice. If you want to keep the bevel, create a logo and use it on the page (<img src="...">, center it too ), instead of as a background image.

Besides, if this one of your early attemps, let me tell you, that it looks a lot better than my earlies.

I'm not sure if I covered what you wanted, just let me know.

Smile Thanks _till

I've done what you suggested, but I can't tell if it made any difference - I won't have access to a higher screen res monitor for a couple of days. But I do think the background wood should look better now - I was a bit unsure about the bevel myself so it's gone. Thanks, yeah, this is my first go at html - in fact I only just got my first computer about 6 months ago and I'm hooked. Thanks again, keep an eye on the site - advice and comments always welcome and very much appreciated.

Thumbs up Thanx Allen

Wow! 1152! Didn't even know it existed - Thanx heaps - _till advised me on the centering bit and it seems to have worked.
Can I center my logo? I'll try.
Hey, do you know what I should do next? what's the story with hosting and actually getting it out there?
This is a cummunity resource gig that I'm doing for no money - how can I promote the site, where do I host it, I have so many questions - where to now?
I have an isp - bigpond.com - to whom I pay $24.95 a month for internet access. If I pay for web hosting - do I still need to have the bigpond thing? Know what I mean?
Thanks heaps, I really appreciate it. Did you vote in my transport poll - if not - ya better go back and cast your vote - "cause the poll is closing soon" - next week - we ask you - "What is your favourite past-time?"
Regards,
Kieran

Hi,

Kieran, as to whether you need to keep bigpond is whether or not you need them for dialup or dsl or whatever service you use... if you just use them for hosting your web site, then no you dont need to keep them, you can move to another host...

I would recommend keeping the site on a freesite for now... until you get a gameplan for marketing the site.

Hope that helps.
