Custom 404 For Specific Directory
I'm curious if there's a way, on IIS, to set up a custom 404 page for a specific directory.
There is a directory on our current server that contains old, outdated information. I would like to remove the entire directory (somewhere around 200 pages), but I need to direct everyone that tries to access that directory to a new PDF document that's been put together.
Basically, years ago, someone made a web-based version of the college catalog. Recently, however, no one has made the effort to do so. Instead, they have just created one large PDF file with all of the information.
Deep within the structure of the Web site (so deep that it would take me literally months to locate all of them), there are links to the old information. I want to make it so, if anyone clicks on one of those links, they get a page that tells them that information is outdated, and they need to download the PDF file instead.
I plan to ask our IT department about this when I meet with them next week. However, I want to know about my options before bringing it up to them. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
