my web site is not a web site yet

Hi, can anyone help me? I'm new to this sort of thing and thougt it would be easier, so here goes...

I have a 1mbp broadband connection with wanadoo
A linksys WAG54G router. (I've just gone through the agony of setting it up, and it seems fine!)
I have a Custom DNS account with DynDNS.org and a .com address

So far so good, I've figured out that I need to update DynDNS.org with my new IP address each time wanadoo disconnect me, and I get a new IP address.... thus linking my IP address with my URL.

I have a web site on my computer in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\home\default.htm

I setup single port forwarding for port 8099 (randomly picked) on my router, as I think wanadoo block port 80.

I still can't see my web site over the internet... Does anyone have any hints for a first timer??? Let me know if you need any more info, and thanks in advance!

Can you tell us the URL?

I wonder if your port forwarding is correct. You have to make sure that this is setup correctly. Port 8099 on your router and which port does your webserver listen on? Probably port 80. And then you have to make sure that the port forwarding is coming from port 8090 to 80. Also check the IP addresses and so on.

Last but ot least, is your webserver running?

I don't know how it works on a Windows server, but on a Linux server, it's really easy to find out if your server is running. You can just direct your browser to http://localhost/ If you get a response saying "Could not connect" or something like that, then your server isn't running.
