IE7 issue - mailto opens new window

After looking at some pages I have created here at work, it came to my discovery that when I click an e-mail link, a new window opens along with the outlook e-mail message. Sample e-mail:
Code:
Maintained by <a href="mailto:some.email@domain.com;another.email@domain.com?cc=third.email@domain.com&subject=Web page">El nombre</a>
The secondary's address is:
mailto:some.email@domain.com;another.email@domain. com?cc=third.email@domain.com&subject=Web page

Is there a way to open outlook without the secondary window? And is this an issue with Vista? I never noticed it with XP.

I believe you are experiencing this problem:
internetexplorer general mailto not trusted even when click from trusted site with IE7 & Vi

I experienced something similar with cookies when some of my users visited with IE7 in Vista. It's Microsoft's lame attempt at security.

I seem to be finding several single-computer fixes, but I need to get something as a global fix. Will definitely make a response when I get something... or if you already know it, please share it!

Unfortunately, Leppy, you're most likely not going to find a global fix, other than to stop using mailto links and start implementing contact forms instead.

There is no way, through a Web site, to dynamically change the security level within IE (thank God for that, otherwise the security levels would be completely and totally useless).

You have to look at this in a similar fashion to the way we all used to account for the fact that some users would have frames and/or javascript disabled. You just have to put a warning somewhere that lets people know they might experience the issue, and how to fix it if they choose to do so.
