if you like send it my way, I've got office 07 and can convert it to you from a .docx to a .doc

I'll check back often, I'll PM you my email address if you're interested in doing this.

Microsoft released a Word 2007 viewer that you can install on your computer. That should allow you to view DOCX documents in IE.

Download details: Word Viewer

MS also released a "compatibility pack" that allows you to open, edit and save the new XML-flavored Office files in your old copy of Office. You could give that a try, too.

Download details: Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats

Deadeye: I eventually saved it as a doc and uploaded it to the server, which works. My only concern is that at some point in the future if something has to be a docx file and cannot be converted to doc (and if Microsoft hasn't pushed out a quick-fix to the IE broswer).

Curtiss: Thanks for the link.
