iFrame + link problem
Hey guys!
I'm having a huge problem with Frontpage 2003/XP. I've have a site containing a rectangle, created with the draw tool, and an iFrame (among others). I try to use the rectangle to link a space in the background to a new site within the iFrame, but the link always opens a new window, instead of opening it in the iFrame. This even though I've specified "Traget Frame" to the iFrame in the Hyperlink settings. I find this very strange.. have tried it both in Frontpage 2003 and Frontpage XP.
Does anyone know if there's any bug in these programs? It should work!
Can anyone help me? I would appreciate if greatly! Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), I have no experience with FrontPage at all, so I can't help you out.

I have experience with FP... I try to take a shower as soon as I get home from work every day!!! It seems like either FP has gone nuts (which is a common factor), or you are linking it incorrectly. Please either show us a link to your page, or provide your code.
Are you linking within your site, or are you trying to link an outside page?
But I must say your problem most likely starts with the fact you are using FP.  Here, have a sheep:

FP is the only program our school lets us use  I'm trying to link to pages within my site. The link works, the problem is only that is opens a new window instead of opening the sites in the iFrame (called 'I1'). There are quite a few rectangles which all should link to the iFrame. Here's the code:

Ah yes, the following links should be opened in the iFrame: 060624.htm, 060625.htm, 060626.htm, 060627.htm, 060628.htm, 060629.htm, 060630.htm, 060701.htm, 060702.htm, 060703.htm, about.htm, details.htm, diary.htm, gallery.htm

I don't see anything inherently wrong with your code (other than the insane amount of unnecessary markup that FrontPage adds).
Try giving your iFrame an ID identical to the name you assigned it.
If that doesn't work, try adding the actual "target" declaration to one of your links. It may be that the base target declaration is not being recognized properly.
Finally, if none of that works, try assigning a different name to your iFrame. It's possible that the name "I1" is interfering with something (although I don't think so).

If you want my advice—and if you are good at coding manually—dump FP and use Notepad. Do not use M Word, Publisher or PPT because those programs were not programmed to design Web sites. (Although they have that option, your designs will most likely come out looking pretty bad.)
Curtiss is correct on the id suggestion. I give my iframes an id and a name (id="something" name="something"), and that works for me. And another suggestion about FP's naming ability... make your own names. Do not trust FP's automatic naming function.
