prob with site in Safari - not sure if JS or CSS

Hi there

I've just finished a site in which part of the dev specs were for a system where not only are the menus done with javascript but it also changes the bg images of a div that covers the page - not great, but i didn't have the choice, lol

Anyway, it works ok in most browsers except in Safari (but it does work in IE mac)

Now, I've never had this sort of problem before as i don't tend to use much js - but from what i've seen there's a problem in the index page because the js function tries to get an element that doesn't exist (in the index page - but it does exist in the others)

would this be enough to prevent the menus from working in Safari

the other problem i have is that i don't currently own a mac but I'm trying to find a used g4 Mini to test stuff in the future as this is doing my head in !

this is the page that doesn't work in Safari
http://www.ecofic.fr/energies-renouvelables/index.php

thanks for any suggestions you can make
