help needed with password log in for web sites

I am really new to all of this so please.... keep that in mind:
I am using a Trellis Web Site builder for my site.... ( easy and and a lazy way I know)
what I am trying to find is a simple line of script that will allow me to password protect part of my web site... i.e for members only:

What kind of host do are you on?

Windows, Linux/Unix? Don't know? Most likely your webhosting offers a control panel which has a feature to passwordprotect directories.
