So Frustrated! 3 Column Layout Help

After wanting to change my layout, my site is pretty much nonexistant right now because for the life of me, I CANNOT figure out how to do a 3 column tableless layout. I have been to many tutorials and still cannot figure it out. All I want is three columns! Is that too hard to ask? haha.

Does anyone have any help/advice for me?

Are you familiar with DIV and CSS? That would be my best recommendation.

Thanks! I found one that I like, that has the CSS and HTML coding along with it. It can be seen here: http://www.manisheriar.com/holygrail/index.htm

HOWEVER, im having a hard time trying to change it.... I want all black backgrounds...and white text. The problem is.... in my file manager... I have a file called "index2.html" (my enter page is index.html) and one called style.css
I put both codes in the right pages...but its still blank. Can you help me?
