Free forum hosting advice...

Hi guys,

Hopefully you'll be able to help me with this.

I need you opinions, I was recently presented with this post:

Quote:
Basically I would like to tell you about an awesome free forum host. So here goes...

I have used many free forum hosts in the past, including all the mainstream ones and some of the less well known. However, one stuck out by far - Forumer.com - I have now been using them for about 2 years!

Many of the other hosts were always going down, and there support was appauling... However, forumer is different they have 18 + servers and they are all up 99% of the time, at least that is what I have found... Their support is also awesome, expect a reply within 1 hour! and they certainly know what they are talking about.

Damn, I realised I have not told you what they host - they host phpBB2 and IPB forums...

Also forumer have unlimited bandwidth and space!

Even more, as an added bonus, they have fmods a modifications/skining center for IPB, they have hundreds of resources and are really cool!

I highly recommend forumer, have a good day!
And basically I need to know your views on Forumer...

Thanks!

oh and btw I love your smilies -

I have been using forumer for a while now and they seem GREAT!

This is my forum Here and as you can see, you can edit almost anything for it and there are NO ADS. I paid for that though (1USD = 6,000 ad-free page views).

You can modify your forum through their modification database (fMods) and they even have thier own image host, FileHive.

Yes, what you seen is correct, Forumer is good!

Yes, these are nice smileys

I've never heard of them, but the page looks impressive. The only concern about phpBB is that the code quality is really weak (strictly imo). I hope forumer keeps up with updates and security fixes.

Otherwise looking good.

Btw, it doesn't take much to host your own forum. PHP webspace with a MySQL database can be purchased from 1-2 bucks per month. Then there is a ton of boards to select from, for example (my current favorite) vanilla. And that is totally adfree - for forever.

Hope that helps,
Till

You may consider also these interesting webhosting offers. They provide almost all a webmaster could need: a lot of space (up to 50 GB), a lot of traffic (up to 999 GB), MySQL, PHP, Perl, and even Windows hosting with MS-SQL and .NET if you use. The prices are fair, even for VPS or dedicated servers.

The most inexpensive offer is 50 GB SPACE + 999 GB TRAFFIC = $4.95/mo, check it there.

Have your heard about Forumotion?
It's very easy to sign up, you simply need to provide the forum name, subdomain (what will appear in the URL), password, email address and the category of the forum. All of this takes around two minutes, after which you can choose the initial forum skin, then you are taken directly to your new forum.

Give it a try : create forum

Hope this can help!
