Redirecting advice

Hi,

I'm new to web design and at the moment I'm trying to launch an internet-based business using an affiliate scheme. I thought at first that it would be fairly simple to automatically redirect visitors to my site to my partner, therefore saving me the time and expense of building and maintaining a site.

However, my partner tells me that the way they identify affiliates is through client-sided cookies and referrer ID's and that they are not aware of any technology or the means for me to automatically redirect.

If anybody has any advice of how I could do this it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Billy

That's quite common, I don't understand your problem either. For example, who do you use for affilate tracking and where do you need to redirect people?

Hi,

I was trying not to use an affiliate tracker to save money and so as not to complicate things further for myself, although I can see that it would probably be a good idea for me to use one.

All I wanted to do was attract traffic to my domain name and then automatically redirect them to the merchant site, because I don't really have any need for a site of my own.

Am I making things any clearer?

Ok, well, buy some adwords on Google and then you put this on your website:

PHP Code:
<?php
header
('Location:URL_OF_YOUR_MERCHANT_SITE_HERE');
?>
I still don't get see your problem, if it's that simple. Or maybe buy adwords for your merchant site directly. You know.

If I recall there is a Fantastico pre-installed script to handle referrals, I may be wrong.

I have one affiliate script installed that I have dicided not to use, but I can't recall where I downloaded it from. Perhaps search google for "free affiliate script download" ?
