Curtiss

Hey everyone -

I'm Curtiss. I started messing around with HTML back in 1995 or 1996, with my own free Geocities account. Shortly afterwards, I started really getting into it, and started up two or three other free Geocities accounts, got myself about 17 email addresses, and started making sites for everything.

Looking back on it, my first couple of sites were absolutely dreadful. However, at the time, they were using cutting-edge technology (like marquee and blink, and wild, colorful backgrounds).

I joined HTMLCenter in 2003, when I was trying to get some help learning how to use various new technologies like DHTML, etc. I had been to quite a few different HTML "help" sites, and found two different perspectives on things: Either I was an idiot, and didn't deserve the time it took for the "experts" on those sites to respond to my questions (unless they simply responded with a personal dig on how stupid I must be), or the people on the help forums didn't know any more than I did, so they weren't really any help at all.

It was different here at HTML Center, though. The people here were helpful and knowledgeable, and they didn't present me with any of the attitude I had got at other sites.

I have continued working with HTML since the beginning, and have picked up CSS, Perl, PHP/MySQL, and quite a few other helpful nuggets along the way.

I am not currently in a web-based profession, but I will hopefully be before too much longer.
