Browser Detect for Flash or Redirect?
I need to find a script or procedure to detect the incoming Website visitor's browser BUT in particular I want to querry the browser and find out if the visitor has Flash enabled. If the visitor has Falsh enabled, Adobe has a detection script to determine if the Falsh version is current and if not the detection script will update the browsers Falsh version thru the Internet in the background.
If the new visitor doesn't have Fash or has Flash turned off, I want to redirect the visitor to a second index.html (index2.html) page that has a standard media player created through DHTML script. The media player would play a standard wav file like it currently does now on the my Website.
It's a shame that it seems that every Web Browser development company has to "reinvent the wheel" when they create a new browser. I guess it's the old entreprenurial and independent spirit and attitude that perpetuates the differences in browsers. The W3C Worldwide Web Consortium just doesn't seem to impress these companies with their standards.
