Exclamation Converting AVI to GIF

I need help converting an avi video to gif. I have a 39 second video clip (which can be cut down). Does anyone recomend a certain program? I would prefer a free program, but one that does not have a huge watermark.

Never needed to do this so I can't recommend a particular program. Did find this one though: http://www.softlookup.com/display.asp?id=84803

It is a free trial for 10 days. Not sure if they are using a watermark though.

There's also this one. I'm not sure whether it uses a watermark or not, either.

I know I've used a few that saved video as multiple bitmap files, but I don't remember what any of them were called.

Re: avi to gif

there`s a good tool by geovid.com)) it`s not a free program but it`s worth using! Vidgif converts video to gif animation// you just select necessary settings.. and create cool avatars or logos!

I use the Gimp with the animation package to convert .avi's to .gifs it is free and open source No Watermark also I came to use it more than I do photoshop for most graphics, easily create animations from bmp's jpg's png's etc as well. apply text to photos, all kinds of text functions ( it's what the site cool text uses to make flaming text etc.)slight learning curve but well worth it, to convert .avi to .gif is very easy with the gap, (Gimp animation package) installed, just a few clicks.
heres a link to main site, there are Many sites devoted to the Gimp.
