Crop ?????

Hi Everyone,

Nice site. I have aquestion for you. I take a lot of digital pictures. I like to crop them in Photoimpact because for some reason when I crop it also pulls to picture in closer.

I found that Photoshop does not. It just crops out the section. This is probably just a setting though. How ever for some reason when I crop in Photoimpact these days it's not pulling the picture closer like it used too.

I hope you understand what I mean. Just incase!! until today when I cropped with Photo Impact it not only removed the on wanted parts on the picture I was cropping. It also zoomed in at the same time. Making the picture look much nicer and as if I use a nice lense or zoom for a close up. This really give the images a professional look.

This has to be a setting somewhere. Also if you know where this setting maybe in Photoshop. That would be great.

I'm not sure i can understand what are you saying, but it's something like focus efect, the parts that are in the are closer and the other parts are somehow far away? Is this the effect that you are looking for. Please can you be more specific...

Thanks for answering

It's not an effect. All I use to do was, take a digital photo and open it in photo impact. get the crop tool and make a box around the part of the image I want to crop.

Let say I have a photo of my kid standing by the pool. I use to be able to load that picture in photo impact and use the crop tool to make a box around her. Then hit the crop button and everything is gone except her and the part of the images that were in the area I cropped.

How ever while doing the crop photo impact use too also draw, pull or zoom in. what ever you want to call it at the same time I cropped that image.

I never could figure out how to do it in photoshop though. But now it's not doing it in photoimpact.

I hope you understand that????????

I figured it out! I don't think the photos actually were getting pulled closer. I think at one time I had the option adjust the window to fit picture set. Then some how it got un set and when I cropped the window didn't adjust to the new size of the image.

Before when it did, it gave the impression that it was zooming in. But in reality it really wasn't.

Thanks for your help

WebMotions,

What he was talking about is that when he cropped part of an image, the portion he would crop would get larger so it filled up the space previously taken by the entire image. However, this is not an effect and only a setting in his image software. It's really not that amazing and you can easily duplicate it yourself.
