Well, theoretically, Microsoft is most compatible with Microsoft.

Since VB.Net is a Microsoft product and runs on a Microsoft platform, the best database management system (DBMS) to use with it is most likely Microsoft SQL Server.

As far as compatibility goes, VB.Net should be compatible with MySQL, MS SQL, Access and Oracle.
