Cool How to force larger fonts with Netscape 8?

My eyesight is not great. I ususally use Control+ in Netscape 8 to increase the size of fonts in web pages. However for some web pages this has no effect. An example is at
http://www.dpreview.com/forums/forum.asp?forum=1009

Is there any way in Netscape 8 I can increase the font on sites like this? If not are there other browsers that will let me override the HTML font size and get a font I can read?

thanks - Dan

I am thinking you can make the font larger using Windows' settings? But I am not sure where.

I'm not sure if this feature is available in Netscape 8 or not, but Mozilla Firefox (which uses the same engine as Netscape), you can set a minimum font size in your settings. In Windows, if you go to Tools -> Options, and then go to the "Content" tab, and click on "Advanced" under the "Fonts and Colors" section, it will bring up a window that allows you to set a minimum font size.

If you set that to, say, 12, then all text that's supposed to be smaller than 12 pixels will show up at 12 px. It will not effect anything that's normally supposed to be larger than your minimum font size.

P.S. - I think my instructions are correct, but I'm really telling you that from memory, as I'm using Linux, and the menu layout within the Linux version of Firefox is a good deal different than the Windows version.

Forcing larger fonts

Hi Curtis,
Thanks, there is a similar option I have just found in NS8. Tools-> Options -> General that will allow setting a minimum font. This in itself is handy but it wil not override the font in sites that are like the dpreview site. I may now have a look at Mosaic and see if that can do it.

thanks for taking the time

Dan

Mozilla not Mosaic

Darn, my age is showing!

I have just downloaded Mozilla and Controll++ will enlarge the fonts on pages that do not respond to Control++ in Netscape. I will play with it for a while and then probably make it my default browser.

Thanks again Curtis

Dan
