this may need to be stickied or something...

i have only registered in order to fix this, and i do hope anyone who has had/will have this problem will find this post, as i have been frustrated for the last 3 days because of it.

i ended up having to trick netscape into making me create a new profile by activating my windows guest account. since this has never been used, there was no user profile for netscape. and damn netscape for not having a profile manager on 8! and why you ask? so that you have to call their 3rd part tech support and pay 19.95 for them to tell you this!!!

when you create a new profile, it asks you what name it will have. if you look at the bottom of the window, it actually tells you where it stores this file! all you have to do is delete the one it forced you to create. but ive done the hard work for you....

-log in as admin or whatever your xp account is that you use.
-make sure you can see all your hidden folders.
-go to : documents and settings/"account name"/application data/netscape/NSB/profiles
-find the one youve been forced to make and delete it.
-restart netscape.
-lo and behold, the profile manager pops up! select your old profile and thats it.

this should do it. you can check the box so that the manager pops up everytime you start netscape (just to be sure), then delete the bad profile out of the list.

now my headache is finally gone...
