Netscape 8 help

I have no idea where to put this so I will just put this here. I downloaded Netscape 8 a couple of weeks ago and it worked fine. Yesterday I went to open it up and a little screen popped up asking something about a new profile and stuff like that. I clicked cancel so I could just used Netscape but that screen kept coming up. I gave in and created a new profile so I could use Netscape. I opened it up and ALL my bookmarks were gone. Is there a way to recover those bookmarks? Or a way to go back to my original profile? Please help me. Thanks

When you are prompted with that screen, that means the Netscape thinks you still have an instance of Netscape running somewhere else on your computer.

You should be able to restart your computer and start Netscape up with the old profile.

Same problem

The same thing happened to me, but when I restarted my computer, my old profile didn't come back. I really need my old bookmarks, and I am sort of freaking out.

I had this same problem. Go to "File" at the top left of the screen. On that menu, right above the "Exit" option, there is a "log off ____" option. Click on it. Then re-open netscape and it will give you a window that offers a choice of "Default" or your other log in name that they forced you to create. Click on default and it will open up all of your old bookmarks etc. If you log off again, and reopen, you will get the two options again. Then you can choose to erase the new profile you created that doesnt have any of your old info on it. This will keep you from having to go though this garbage every time.
