Yeah, it's been out for about a week now!

If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time downloading it, although I already did.

Well, from a designer's perspective, sometimes it's cool to open windows in certain locations of the screen. What Netscape (or AOL, which is the biggest reason why Netscape $ucks now!) did is make everything work within window tabs. In that case, all windows created are opened into a new tab, and it doesn't follow the location attributes. Here's an example: http://www.uta.edu/student_orgs/billiardsteam/

In other browsers (including NS7), the window opens dead center (regardless of resolution) and it looks like everything is sitting within the billiards table. In NS8, it opens to a full blown-out window, and the material is stretched across the screen.
(I guess they're nonchalantly informing us to start learning and using Flash for our designs. )

Plus, it has a few tabs at the top that you can change around, but you can't permanently remove the main one.

Cool Dual engines, kinda cool

I just hate the layout for Netscape 8. I can't find anything, and it just looks bad... but that's my take. I prefer the simple, grey look

I do like the ability to switch between Firefox and Netscape's engine. Could be a very useful tool for developers and poeple who are having site compatibility problems. They just need to add IE to the list (which will never happen.)

Wait a sec... I thought I applied "Yes" to a question about using the IE engine.

I think I am giving it a try. From the enduser perspective, I like the idea to have everything in tabs very much. Let's see what Netscape8 has to offer in terms of speed.

I am going to dowload it anyway. It is important to test sites in as many different browsers as possible. I will stick with Firefox as my main browser though

That's true about testing differ browsers... but maybe if we can get others to realize how horrible NS8 is, we can get them to not use it!

My experience so far has had a speed bump whenever I open it--perhaps it's the computer I'm using: 128RAM --but beyond that, it seems to browse the Web just like anything else.

Thumbs down

I haven't used N8 a whole lot, but I opened it the other day and saw that I could get a few updates. After downloading and installing them, now I'm no longer able to use N8!! I open the program, and I can see the browser for a moment, but then it automatically closes no matter what!

Talk about a load of crap!

I just downloaded N8.1, and when it loads, I see the screen pop up, and I am asked if I want it to be the default browser. Regardless of what I click, N8.1 automatically closes, and I receive a program error saying it needs to close.
